Twenty 14 and new wedding trends

Happy New Year to all!  I trust everyone had a good Old Year's Night, New Year's Day, and or at least one good day since 2014 arrived.  We've been busy busy looking at new trends, talking about revamping packages, and discussing what new things we can do for our 26th year in business.  I was reading up on the new trends for weddings.  I was so excited to see that the dahlia is THE hot flower for 2014--I love dahlias!

Seriously, can you tell how much I adore these flowers??

Also trending, "naked" wedding cakes.  Not sure how I feel about this but it's different and new!

New Ideas

SMP (or style me pretty) is one of my guilty obsessions.  I love clicking through this site, looking at all the amazing photos full of beauty and creativity, and (secretly) planning for my someday vow renewal.  I found this DIY project for a backdrop and wanted to see what all of you thought.

Do you think this would be something you'd like to see hanging from a seagrape tree at the beach?

Another cute idea: pinwheels!  How fun to have these little simple and fun props for photos!

What kinds of little accents do you think "make" a wedding?

Stephanie & Sean | 5.13.2013

Stephanie contacted us back in early September of 2011 to begin planning her wedding.  Her enthusiasm and anticipation shone through in every email, which made planning her wedding that much more fun!  Stephanie had lots of ideas about how she wanted the beach decorated for her ceremony...and we went back and forth for months.  Finally, she decided on some amazing combinations of bright colors, elegant flowing fabric arches, and island inspired sea glass and sea stars.  She also included some vintage inspired decor for the cake and champagne table with a candelabra, lace tablecloth, and a couple of framed photos of the happy couple.  Congratulations, Stephanie and Sean; we wish you all the best!!

Sarah & Matt | 5.7.2013

As soon as Sarah and I started communicating via email, I could tell I was just going to love working with her.  She was always upbeat and sweet and really excited for her big day.  Time literally flew by and her wedding was here before either of us knew it.  Sarah and Matt opted for a Catholic ceremony at Sts. Peter and Paul church followed by photos, drinks, and appetizers at Magens, finishing up at Grand Cru for lunch.  Now THAT'S a destination wedding day!

Kelcie & Bobby | 3.28.2013

Kelcie and I spoke so much while planning her big day that when I met her last Thursday, I felt like I was seeing a friend I hadn't seen in a long time.  She looked amazing and had the sweetest group of family and friends with her.  Kelcie chose a purple and white theme for her Lindquist Beach wedding and the colors just went so well with the beautiful aqua water and white sand.  But don't take my word for it...see for yourself.
